The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) market activity was range bound throughout the week. KSE – 100 index has reached 10,901.76 points by gaining of 22.44 points or 1.74 per cent.

The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) market has witnessed a bearish trading week for the fourth consecutive week. KSE – 100 index has reached 10,879.82 points by shedding of 382.22 points or 2.67 per cent.

Following news have played vital role in Karachi Stock Market index movement:

  • Global Capital Markets have plunged over European and US debt concerns
  • Law and Order situation become worst in Karachi
  • Average daily volumes plunged by 49 percent to 36 million shares over the previous week as all major stocks, including Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), shed value
  • Issue of Marketing margins and incidentals on ex-refinery prices of Oil refinery companies and Refineries sector, has been resolved
  • Investors have fear, that foreign funds are slowly transferring from KSE to commodities
  • A few stocks offer dividend yield of more than 14 percent. Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC), Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Limited (FFBL), National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Hub Power Company (Hubco) are among the shares offering such a yield
  • Pak Rupee has reached the lowest value as compared to US$
  • Gold has reached up to record highest level in history
  • Food Import bill gets up by 28 per cent

The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) market has witnessed a bearish trading week but has managed to close above psychological level of 11,000 points. KSE – 100 index has reached 11,262.04 points by shedding of 113.05 points.

Following news have played vital role in Karachi Stock Market index movement:

  • Global markets will also define the direction of KSE (Karachi Stock Exchange) next week
  • In order to stabilise markets Turkey, Spain, Belgium, France, Italy, Greece and South Korea all banned short-selling
  • Events at the US markets saw one of the worst declines in Dow Industrial and S&P 500 indices, which triggered a worldwide sell-off of equities
  • Recovery in international oil prices, institutional interest in blue chips - oil, banks and fertilizer sectors - on strong valuations supported the market a little bit during major earnings announcements this week
  • Political turmoil, uncertainty and terrorist activities in country has made investors more cautious
  • KSE – 100 index was trying to rise in last two sessions, but selling of OGDC, ENGRO and NESTLE Pakistan kept the market subdued
  • Engro, Nishat, PSO, Pakistan Oilfields, Millat Tractors and Pakgen all made the maximum increase in different sessions
  • According to National Clearing Company of Pakistan (NCCPL), the major buyers in the stock markets were foreign investors and mutual funds
  • Financial results of OGDC and PSO were good as expected, but ENGRO has really disappoint investors

Lotte Pakistan, NBP, AZGARD NINE, PTCL and Fauji Fertliser Bin Qasim were volume leaders. Unilever Foods, Colgate Palmolive, Nat. Refinery, PSO and Bhanaro Tex were major gainers while Nestle Pak, Wyeth Pak, Rafhan Maize, Siemens Engg, and Hinpak Motors were major losers at KSE last week.

The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) market has suffered the deepest plunge since last two years. KSE 100 Index has lost 4 percent in single day (Friday), which is the highest single day drop since 19 October, 2009. The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) 100-share index has reached 11,375 points by shedding of 829 points or 7 percent which is the lowest close since last 23 weeks. Almost all sectors have badly affected by this downfall.

Following news have played vital role in Karachi Stock Market index movement:

  • Global markets have fall, world markets have shed 6-7 percent e.g. Sensex, DJI etc.
  • According to international Stock News, US markets still reeling from the near-default of the US government, Europe took centre stage as the precarious economic conditions in Italy came to the fore during the week
  • Political turmoil, uncertainty and terrorist activities in country has made investors more cautious
  • Although market was opened positively and investors have welcomed and celebrated the 50 basis point cut in Monetary Policy announced by SBP (State Bank of Pakistan)
  • Petroleum and gas prices have reached a record level
  • According to analysts the steep downfall of Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) market can provide investors new opportunities for buying as the companies are announcing high double digit earning growth and better payouts

Fazal Spinn, Nadeem Tex, Sanofi Aventis, New Jubilee Insurance, Blessed Text, Pakistan Tobacco Company, Shifa Int Hospitals Ltd, Meezan Bank and Pak Suzuki Motors were the major gainers while Nestle Pak, Siemens Engg, Rafhan Maize, Unilever Foods, Millat Tractors, K.E.S.C., Azgard Nine, TRG Pakistan, Pace (Pak) Ltd and P.I.A were major losers at KSE last week.
